Who We Are
Conservatoire Cerdd is a non-profit organisation run by The Music School CIC. Dedicated to developing and nurturing the Musicianship of young people.
Enjoy a fresh approach to music education. We work with the Young Musician and their parents, to create a learning plan that promotes creativity, ambition and musical purpose. We offer the usual qualifications – and so much more.
A Chance to Shine
School budgets often eclipse talent, creativity and ambition. We’ve created a sanctuary for young musicians to get a rewarding music education. One that creates opportunities and gives children a chance to shine. One that complements other subjects such as drama, theatre and dance. Whatever your child’s musical ambitions, our programme will support them all the way.
We believe it’s time for something different. A fresh approach to music education that nurtures a young musician’s ability from roots to branches and beyond.
We are a musical nation. Music soundtracks every aspect of our lives. It creates a sense of national identity and helps boost our economy. Music in education can create a lifetime of golden opportunities. Preserving the traditions of music education is essential, but so is embracing innovation. That’s why we offer education and support for a rich musical life, not just exams.
Scholarships and Bursaries
We provide a welcoming environment where all Young Musicians feel valued and supported. Our culture promotes diversity and inclusivity, celebrating the unique musical backgrounds and interests of each individual. Music should be for all, not just the preserve of the privileged few. That’s why we offer scholarships and bursaries for each group.
Nightingales: 12-14 Years
Our Nightingales learn about the foundations of music and what it’s like to live a musical life. They get to grips with music theory, technique and creativity in addition to learning individual instruments. A great deal of emphasis is given to learning to play with other musicians, make friends and find common ground with peers.
With support from many sources including the International School of Musicians (ISoM), we prepare our students for a whole host of educational opportunities. Developing the confidence to take these opportunities is a skill in itself. We develop it all the time, with an Experience and Confidence Building programme.
We get to know young musicians and work with them, their parents and tutors to decide which path will get them the best results. And reward them with a fulfilling musical life.
Skylarks: 14-16 Years
Our Skylarks learn a comprehensive GCSE Music syllabus with experienced, engaging tutors. They also have the option to become well-rounded musicians through a collaborative path that puts the learner at the heart of the process. We believe in a clear structure for learning coupled with real-life experiences of music and performance. Plus lots of support to achieve different musical goals.
Hawks: 16-18 Years
Young Musicians can take the next step in their journey and prepare for high education or to embark on musical careers. We will offer A Level and Diploma courses as required by the pathways the young musicians have agreed. Sharpening their performing, composing and listening skills and bringing them all together is at the heart of what we do at this stage. It’s the stepping stone to higher education courses and opens the door to careers in teaching, composing, music therapy and many more.
